ALUMINUM BAHAMA SHUTTERS

We always carry my wife's hiking stick in our vehicle, for moments just like this. We had thrown in some light trail hiking shoes and decided to take a three mile alpine hike, just for the fun of it, on our way back home from Seattle. We didn't have any bug repellent, and fortunately didn't need it

Tue 18Aug09 - - Wife and I drove to Seattle (scenic route - Chinook Pass). I made a bee line to Glazer’s Camera Shop (Thank you John - it was a great place to shop) to pick up two lens hoods; wireless remote shutter release; UV filters; extra lens caps (I know I’m going to be a master at losing those little hummers); lens case for the 55-250mm; camera case for the XSi; and a quality lens cloth.

Later: I scored a half a dozen “excellent” used books at half-price books in Tukwila, while my wife attended and investment seminar at the penny slots on the Muckleshoot Indian reservation (she donated to their cause). I also tasted my first Thai food for lunch (Thank you Fly Flipper and Jason for steering me in that direction). Boy was it good! MILD of course: Khi Moa Noodles - - Wild rice noodles stir fried with bell pepper, basil leaves, broccoli, tomatoes and prawns. Gotta do that again (Thank you Bai Tong Thai Restaurant).

After a long day of fun, we returned to Eastern Washington over Chinook Pass again, but stopped to take the easy but scenic, 3 mile Naches Peak loop hike. We had packed trail shoes and my wife’s hiking staff, for the occasion and it was a great chance for me to “test” the new camera bag for the XSi. Worked great!. We were gone from home just 12 hours, but we had a lot of fun together in that short period of time and time is, as they say, the “stuff” life is made of.

This large tarn is across the highway from Tipsoo Lake on Chinook Pass. It is where the Naches Peak loop hike ends if you hike it in a clockwise manner, which is what we did this day.

This tarn provides outstanding Mt. Rainier reflection photo ops in early morning.
