I found the second picture from this set
this one is with my Aunt Rose standing.
She is two years younger, so she must be about 16 here! Does she look it?
This was taken by my relative, Albert Bumbalo in 1948. My Mother, France Tuzzolino, is primping and posing in front of a beautiful vanity made in the mid 1940s. We had this piece up until the mid eighties when we sold the house. Much of the knurled veneer had torn off here and there. The glass edge leaves were a yellow color and all the glass was beveled. Her real beauty mark, not painted, she told me was the envy of all her friends in the 40s and 50s when in was in vogue. I guess that style has come back a bit. Gosh knows what an entire set like this, a bureau, a tall closet [see them in the mirror! ] and a bed set would go for now in decent shape. Notice the wooden slat venetian blind? I remember we still had them in a rarely used storage room when I was a kid. Comments welcome. See large photo to appreciate Al's shot of my Mom.
p.s. In this picture one can see the 40's modern-deco linoleum flooring. I remember actually seeing it when we pulled up a later layer in the 70s! I felt as if I was peering into our family's past taste in decor - a strange feeling. No, the vanity is long gone.
